What is a safelist?

Safelists are lists comprised of people who have given
permission to have ads sent to them.

There are two basic types: Free and Paid. Many of the Paid
lists have a "free" option. The free option is great to start out
with. This will allow you to get a really good handle on how
these safelists work.

Now there are some limitations to a free account. For example,
most free accounts will only allow you to send out ads to
members once a week, or to only a select few of the entire
database.

By upgrading to the list's Paid option, you would be allowed
to send ads once a day, or more often.

It is a good idea to join as many paid lists as you can afford.
Those you cannot afford, join with the free option until you
can afford to upgrade.

How do I get started?      Top

Most lists have a set format for signing up and will include
the following:

1) You Join
2) You get confirmation of joining in your email
3) You activate your account
4) Follow instructions and mail to the list members

It is a good idea to follow the instructions closely and even
print out any pertinent information.

TIP: When signing up for these safelists, try to use the same
Username and Password. It makes it much easier to remember,
and much harder to forget. I recommend using 7 digit Usernames
and Passwords.

Also, you'll want to keep track of your Usernames and Passwords.
The best way is to copy and paste them into Notepad or a
Wordpad document for easy access later.

Many paid lists give you an affiliate option and you can advertise
the list with a URL that is coded with your ID and you get credits
for referrals, or even cash.

In most cases, two referrals will give you enough commission to
cover the cost of a paid safelists.

Isn't this SPAM?     Top

Spam is unsolicited e-mail (or news postings) pushing a point. Be it an ad for a used PC, or an urge to vote on a proposition; if you didn't ask for it, didn't sign up on a mailing list related to it, and didn't leave your e-mail address on a web form asking for more information on it, it's spam! Safelist members have elected to receive email from other members in exchange for the privilege of promoting their product to these same members. Therefore, since you are AGREEING to receive these emails, they are NOT considered SPAM.

I tried to send a mail, but I get a message stating that I do not have enough credits or points.     Top

Many safelist are "points" or "credits" based. The way these work is they allow you to receive credits or points for reading ads. This is very smart, because most people don't
read these ads. If you want to keep sending ads then you are going to need credits.

How do I get more points?     Top

You get credits by reading ads and referring new members. In the email you receive, there will be a hyperlink that, by clicking it, will add credits or points to your account. You can also receive credits or points by referring new members.

I tried to send a mail, but I get a message stating that I must wait.   Top

The majority of all safelists require you to wait a specified amount of time between mailings. These times can range from 7 days (sometimes more) to once an hour. By upgrading your membership, you will be allowed to mail more often.

Why have I not received my verification email?    Top

When you join a safelist, you will be sent a "verification email" to the email address you used when you joined. This email serves to verify that the email address you gave is a valid email address, and to verify that you agree to receive emails to this email address. You will not be allowed to send emails until you have verified your membership by clicking a link in the verification email. Depending on the safelist, server traffic and other factors, your verification email may take up to 4 hours to reach your inbox. If you have not received your verification email after 4 hours, there is usually an option to "re-send" it. As a last resort, you can contact the safelist through their customer support email address.

What does "bounce" mean?     Top

"Bounce" means that emails are not reaching your inbox and being returned to the originating source. The most common reason for "bounced" email is a full inbox. Delete some messages and you will be able to receive mail again. Server problems may also cause an email to bounce.

Why is my account set to "vacation"?     Top

All safelists have the optin of setting your account to "vacation" status. By doing this, you will not receive any emails. If your account is set to vacation, and you did not do it, you have probably "bounced" email. Set your vacation status back to "here." You will probably be required to wait a specified amount of time before you are allowed to mail again.

Why has my account been deleted?     Top

Some safelists are set up to automatically delete your account after a specified number of bounced emails. If your account has been deleted, contact customer support. In many cases, they will reinstate your membership.

What is "Hits-By-Email"?     Top

Some safelists have "Hits-By-Email."  In random Safelist emails sent out, there will be a link included in it to one of websites of another member. When you click these links to visit THEIR sites, you receive a credit towards having your own links in Safelist emails for others to click to visit YOUR site! Each credit is worth one safelist email sent to the entire list containing your link, and you get one credit automatically per other member's site you visit by clicking these links in Safelist mail.

What is "Admin Email"?

When you join a safelist, you provide two email addresses. One is your "List address." The other is your "Contact Address." You will receive email from other list members at your list address, and email from the administrator of the safelist to your contact address. The email you receive to your contact address is called "Admin Email."
